About Us

The Lobster Boat Inn (LBI) sits proudly on 3 acres of wooded land at 2041 Glen Road, Antigonish County. Her original name was “Foxy Lady K” and her current name is “Lady Inn Red.” This name captures Lady, a part of her original name and Red – the colour of cooked lobster! What could be a more suitable? Her name is connected to her history, her past occupation, and the colour of the Canadian flag.

I (David Horton) came to Nova Scotia from Ontario, looking for adventure and a new beginning in a province steeped in nature, culture, and history. I felt an immediate connection to the lobster and when I had the opportunity to renovate a retired lobster boat and save a little part of Nova Scotia history, I couldn’t say no. My vision was to convert my old weather-beaten lawn ornament to a small, 42-ft, affordable, bed and breakfast. My lobster boat would be the iconic place to stay when travelling to the north shore of Nova Scotia. It would welcome guests from around the world with a desire to taste a little piece of the Canadian story. The inn could function as a base; from which to explore much of this great province, or a spot to just chill for a couple of days to unwind, and a place at which to build lasting memories.

The LBI is now in the process of evolving from a dream to a reality. The old girl didn’t emerge from the ashes of fishing days of the past without challenges. Her assigned serial number is now: NOMOH2O (no more water).
Alas, she will never fish again. Too many leaks and scars from: weather, time, and the sea. But her reclaimed life holds the promise of new stories and Nova Scotian achievement. Her mission now is to provide a safe harbour for families and friends to reconnect while visiting Antigonish and surrounding areas.

We provide economical accommodation for travelling tourists. It offers a base camp from which to visit: Cape Breton, the Cabot Trail, New Glasgow, Pictou, Antigonish and surrounding area.

We are not a motel room, a hotel, a yurt, an RV, or a tent! We are all about glamping or upscale camping. Guests sleep in real beds in enclosed spaces and off the ground. We are a boat that is literally off the grid, off the water, and off the beaten path. Yet, we are just a ten-minute drive from downtown Antigonish.

Welcome All!
